I spilled about 1/4 cup of tap on the top of my gaming/work pc case which has a grate for airflow.

Immediately unplugged the power and cleaned up the external spill.

Some of the water got on the GPU and its pci slot. Some got on the cpu 8-pin and mobo 24-pin. Cpu itself was fine as was the RAM.

I disconnected the pins, gpu, and cpu (just in case) to dry them with a paper towel. Set my cpu infront of a large fan for an hour and let it sit for 2 more.

I (foolishly) plugged everything back in to test. It lit up, fans and all, then shut off. It refused to do anything after that. All I get is the pwr_led and nothing else.

I then set a hairdryer on cool set to high airflow for an hour. This time I tried the pwr_sw button and tried shorting the power pins with a flathead. Thing is showing no signs of life; just the pwr_led and nothing else. I've also tried powering without the GPU.

There is no visible water even after removing the mobo, components, and connectors and inspecting with flashlight.

Tested PSU with the paperclip method and it works. Is my mobo really fried or is there still a chance and I just need to wait 24 hours?

theres no way you can say yes your motherboard is fried really

you need to remove parts you can double check in another pc--ie ram, gpu, cpu etc

you could go buy a new motherboard and find out thats not the issue after all

if you can test everything in another pc and they all work ok then yes its probably the board

though could also be more than just the board got damaged

Water damage is incredibly bad no matter how small for a PC (slightly obvious I know) so if your PSU is working then I would say that your motherboard is fried, waiting even a couple of weeks will not yield any results at this time, sorry :(
