I have purchased a Dell XPS 8700 from Costco.com about 2.5 year ago and have upgraded my PSU and GPU so far. I am planning to upgrade my ram soon as 8gb is not enough for me. I have been waiting for black Friday to find a good deal and found 16gb DDR4 ram for $80.00 from RipJaws. I only have 1 issue, I don't know if it will be compatible with my motherboard and the rest of the computer.
Specs of PC:
Intel Core i7 4700
Dell Inc. OKWVT8 Haswell Z87 motherboard
Dual DDR3 8gb of ram
stock r9 290 (upgrade)
750w gold+ power supply
Ram I want to buy:
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 -$79.99
I did some reading and found that because I have DDR3, it might be a problem upgrading to DDR4 with the old motherboard I have. Would this be an issue? Is there any other good ram upgrades I good get for this price?
