As the title says, i need some insight on what i should be concerned about upgrading first. I'm on a tight budget and i might be able to spend as much as 250€ but would rather spend less.

I use the computer mostly for work (3D Studio Max, Illustrator, Photoshop) and some gaming. My current build is as follows:

PSU: Corsair CS550M
CPU: AMD FX6100
MB: Gigabyte 970A-D3
SSD: ADATA SP550 (480gb)
HDS: 2x WD GREEN 1TB
GPU: EVGA GTX 750 TI
RAM 16GB: 2x CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR3 (4GB) + 2x KINGSTON FURY BLUE (4GB) DDR3 both at 1600 (OC at mobo).

In terms of work flow it's perfect right now, can't really complain as i'm able to work with big files/images/3d models and the workstation handles well.

I'm looking forward in upgrading the computer, mostly because of gaming. I have some money on the side and can probably spend something between 200~250€. GPU is normally the first thought that pops into my mind, but i'm left wondering if my system isn't going to bottleneck the GPU, and if maybe i should start with the CPU. Problem with the CPU is that i'm stuck at FX8370 since my mobo can't handle more power.

Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated,
kind regards.

The best question to ask is what gets maxed out during current usage. If your CPU is up at 95% when the GPU usage is much lower or vice versa then you have your answer.

Personally I'd get a better GPU first with that build as it could be carried over to a new board/cpu in future.

Typical 4+1 phase can deliver up to 150 watt for CPU getting from 24 pin ATX and 4x4 pin EPS, CS550M is at 70% efficient so in theory the PSU will still supply approximately 100 watt (typical GTX 750 ti, 960, or 1050), you can try 1050 ti or 1060 3GB at most. My suggestion is to keep this system and opt for intel H110 board (dual channel and PCIe X16 and 17 6700K)
