Are tempered glass cases okay for a travel PC?

I'm looking to transfer the components from my 30+ pound full tower case to a lighter, more compact mid tower. As I often take my PC to friends houses, I need something I can handle easily. I was wondering are cases with temper glass side panels okay to move around a lot? Does the glass scratch easily? Would I be able to move it from my house, into my car, to another house and back again multiple times with relatively low visible wear? Thank you.

Glass does not scratch easily, but it can happen. I would not worry too much about it, you can always get a cover for the system when you are moving it or to stick on the side of the case to protect the glass.

Are you crazy!!!!???? Just kidding :)

There are several cases that have handles for this reason. One thing other than the glass (which is resistant to scratching unlike most acrylic windows), is look at the quality of your case's finish. There are some that are just lightly coated for their color, and then others that have paint which bonds much better, and some that have a clear coat over top. Plastic is more resistant to having scratches on the chassis.

I have a Rosewill Cullinan (picture: http://media.bestofmicro.com/2/D/611797/gallery/Rosewill-Cullinan-Front_w_755.jpg), which was a gift from my mother. When she was wrapping it though to give it to me, she dropped it down the stairs, a whole stories worth of them. The case was unscratched. It was still in its box, so I suggest you wrap yours in some sort of protective cushion when transporting, but you should be fine as long as you are careful with it.
