Building this system for my dad, i built an i7 rig around 5-6 years ago now that is still doing me amazingly well with just a video card upgrade in the last 8 months so i'd like to build him a rig that has reasonable longevity. this is what i've come up with so far:

items:

Intel Core i5 I5-4460 Haswell 3.2GHZ Processor LGA1150 6MB Cache Retail

Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64Bit English DVD OEM for NCIX PC

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB SATA 6GB/S 7200RPM 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM

ADATA Premier SP550 240GB 2.5” SATA 3 Solid State Drive (SSD) ASP550SS3-240GM-C

GIGABYTE Z97MX-GAMING 5 mATX LGA1150 Z97 DDR3 PCI-E16 PCI-E8 XFIRE/SLI SATA3 USB3 HDMI Motherboard

G.SKILL Ripjaws X 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3-1600 CL10-10-10-30 1.5V 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit - Red

GIGABYTE RX 480 G1 8GB GDDR5 DVI/HDMI/3XDP Gaming Video Card

Fractal Design Core 1500 mATX Mid Tower Case Black No PSU

EVGA SUPERNOVA 750 G1 80 PLUS GOLD CERTIFIED 750W MODULAR POWER SUPPLY 135MM FAN 10YR WT

$1551

thoughts? I know there may be "better" video cards with less memory, however in my experiance i've almost always had better experiances going with the higher memory card as opposed to the lower with higher clock speeds etc. Just somthing i've always felt has been that way in the last 2-3 builds and upgrades ive done.

Oh, didn't knew, you could go for an i5 6400 or 6600 with a B150 motherboard, and the RX graphics card, which is a pretty decent card at the moment and not expensive as a 1070, that should be ok if it's for gaming or 3D rendering
