Hello tom's hardware community,

I've been having this issue for a while now and i don't know how to proceed.

My windows 10 machine will randomly freeze many times per day.

Usually happens while browsing the internet but is not limited to that. Ctrl+Alt+del doesn't respond and the sound cuts also. I have managed to have the task manager opened while this happens and everything seems normal. Memory is at 15%, CPU at 4% and disk no more that 30%. I have manually checked the voltage on my PC and everything is fine. I also have 2 different RAM frequency's. 1600Mhz and 1066Mhz. Tried removing the other frequency but freeze still happens. i have run memtest86+ and i have 9+ passes with no errors.

i have also tried re-installing windows on a diffrent drive and it still freezes.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

My Specs are:

Case: ENERMAX OSTROG ECA3253-BL Black
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3(1600)
Memory: Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin (1066)
PSU: Corsair CX600M
Motherboard :ASUS 970 PRO GAMING/AURA AM3+
Monitors: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid (x2)
CPU: AMD FX-8350
Cooler: Corsair H100i
GPU: XFX Black Edition Double D R9-280A 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5
HDD: 1X WD Black (1TB each)
SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K 120gb SSD
SSD: ADATA SP900 256Gb

Thank you!

Well they they didn't really help you any at all, you are trying to mix 1066 and 1600 DRAM for 1 thing, and there are no guarantees when mixing any packages of DRAM, even if they are the same same exact model...you could try raising the DRAM voltage up + 0.075 or so, but not sure you'll ever get full stability, sorry :(
Hi there hackifier,

Taking into account the things you've tried, I would say this sounds a lot like a memory related issue.

What do you mean by removing the other frequency? Did you remove both RAM sticks?

I believe it would be nice to try running your system with just a single RAM stick in different ports. In case the issue persists, try another one. That way, you will be absolutely sure if it is RAM related or not.

Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)

Thank you for your reply.

What i meant by that is i tried runnung my PC with two RAM sticks of the same frequency. I am starting to think this could be a driver conflict issue. I agree with you this does sound like a memory issue but it would supprise me that all 4 ram sicks broken!

Do you think driver conflict could cause such an issue?

Thanks for your help

Yes that's exactly it. 2 X 4Gb of G.Skill and 2 X 4Gb of Kingston

Model # for G.Skill= F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM
Model # for Kingston=KVR1066D3N7/4G

I couldn't find the exact model for the Kingston RAM, It was given to me as a gift! But newegg helped me on this one.

Thanks again
