can I install this motherboard (shown above) with the Fractal Design Core 1300 without having to take away the rear fan?

Yes, the fan won't even be close to hindering you from installing the motherboard.

Rumors suggest Kaby Lake isn't noticably better, just more efficient. Although from an i5-6600 to a Kaby Lake i7 would be worth it even if it wasn't better than Skylake, arguably.
