Which Motherboard would be a good one to complete this Build?

Hi forum,

I was wondering which motherboard I could get to complete this build:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZJ9Qf8

I already have all of those pieces, and used to have an asrock x79 extreme6 that recently died after 3 years of use.

I was looking for x79 boards but they cost more than a new x99 board (over US$400.00)? which is kind of insane to me. I'm not looking to upgrade to DDR4 and x99 or whatever.

What kind of board could I get that wouldn't cost me more than a brand new x99 board?

All I need is a good one that would work well with this build :)

Thanks!

  1. An X99 board is not the correct socket for the CPU you selected. An X79 is the correct choice. pcpartpicker will only show you the compatible motherboards.

Yeah I know ^^, was just comparing the prices between the two available compatible boards on pcpartpicker for my build (which are over $500), vs the new X99 generation boards.

Still trying to find a decent x79 board that isn't worth $500 though :(

As old as that is, used is probably your best bet. Probably $100 or less.
