Hi

I'm going to replace my i3 with an i5 for in my Z170 Pro4 mobo tomorrow, which will be my first time replacing a cpu.

So my question is this: After I successfully replace my cpu, do I need to change anything in the BIOS/software side when I boot up my computer? Or will my computer just boot up normally with my already-existing software?

Thanks!

Before you replace the CPU, you may want to update the motherboard's BIOS to the latest version. Also, make sure you have all the Windows updates installed. Then, swap out the CPU. Be sure to clean off the old thermal paste from your cooler and reapply fresh thermal paste. Boot up should be OK.

No one told me anything about updating the BIOS. I found out I have P1.10 and I downloaded Asrock's Live Update App. When I go to the update page, I see this

  • INF Driver
    HD Audio Driver and Application
Rapid Storage Technology Driver and utility
    ME Driver
    Intel LAN Driver
    ASRock APP Charger
    Restart to UEFI
I don't see anything about BIOS. Does that mean I have the latest version?
