After I Installed a New GPU, My PC Ran Games Considerably Slower

I installed a new GPU recently. I installed a Radeon RX 480 (4gb). Upgrading from an Nvidia GeForce GT 780 (yes, I know, quite the jump). I was expecting an exponential jump in performance. What I got was worse performance than before. Games that I had run (albeit at 30 fps, low settings) now run at 1-10 fps. I can't imagine what is wrong with it. I've deleted old drivers and installed new drivers. Can someone please help? Thanks.

Processor: Intel Core i7 4790 @3.6 GHz
GPU: Radeon RX 480 4GB Model
8GB of RAM
PSU: Corsair CX 500
Mobo: Hp 732240-503 Envy 700 Memphisb Desktop Motherboard S115x

Note: I bought an HP Envy desktop and have upgraded some of the parts. (The GPU and the PSU).

What resolution are you gaming at? A 780 can still maintain 60 fps in most games at 1080p high settings, you may need to drop a few others in really heavy games. Something must have been wrong before too.

You definitely have the monitor plugged into the gpu and not the motherboard?

The GTX 780 can run most games at 60 fps. I had the GT 780. Large difference in graphical performance. And yes, the monitor is plugged in to the GPU. Thanks though. Also I'm gaming at 1080p.

I'm using the drivers I downloaded off of the AMD website. Found here
I have the latest drivers. The ones released 11/27/16

Run 3dmark and see what your score is, this will give a preliminary idea of where you're at. Testing games comes AFTER you're sure everything is working right. Games can have issues of their own with videocards and drivers, which is why they don't make good troubleshooting tools. Also, it's much harder to judge if your performance in Game X is similar to other people with the same setup as you, since there are so many variables at play.

Is there any other options than spending $30 on 3dmark?
