Computer froze sporadically and now it won't start

Hello! I have a 1,5 year old computer that I assembled myself. Only a few days ago it started freezing randomly so I had to reboot it with the power button. Now I cannot even boot it properly (the computer starts, but no external hardware such as mouse, keyboard or screen responds in any way). Formatting did not help, so it is likely hardware related. Here are some details I've encountered:

* Before it was unbootable, and it froze, programs stopped responding, and I could not use mouse nor keyboard. What was displayed on my screen did not freeze immediately, though. Animations kept moving for a while.
* I've tried booting with one (out of two) RAM at a time, but it does not help, so the RAM is not likely the problem.
* I have also tried booting without the graphics card connected. I plugged in my screen directly to the mother board instead. But this did not help either.
* Sometimes, after some reconfigurations of the hardware, everything starts as normal. But then if I reboot it goes back to not booting correctly.
* I've tried removing the battery on the motherboard (for about 2-3 minutes) but that did nothing.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
