Hey guys, it's the week of black friday and cyber monday is close too. So I decided to give my computer a storage upgrade. I decided to get a Samsung 850 evo 500 gb SSD. I went to newegg.com and saw that the m.2 version of the 850 evo was selling for the same price as the 2.5 inch 850 evo. Plus the m.2 came with a WatchDogs 2 game code. I was sold on the m.2 850 evo.

However, here's my problem. My boot disk is a Samsung 850 pro 2.5 inch 128gb SSD. The thing is, if I put the m.2 850 evo SSD into my motherboard along with my 850 pro boot disk and boot up my computer, will my computer think that the m.2 is my boot disk and say that there is no operating system?

Not all motherboards can boot from that m.2 slot. My Gigabyte Z77 can't.
But that's not what the OP was asking.

You have mis read my post. I only said the boot drive would stay as it was last saved and it would be poor design for a motherboard to force the boot to M.2. Its exactly what the OP was asking.

OK.
I was apparently misreading this:
"That would be a really poor design making it impossible to clone your OS to the M.2."

No worries.
