The cooler conundrum (Hyper 212 EVO w/ ASUS M4A88T-M w/Corsair Carbide 100R Silent)

Considering an upgrade to my current stock AMD cooler (long overdue), the Hyper 212 EVO seemed like a good bet, providing killer performance for a nice cheap price (<£30). The first issue with that is my case: the Corsair Carbide 100r Silent Edition specifies a max. cooler height of 150mm, where the 212 EVO is 158mm tall. I have seen builds on pcpartpicker that use both these components without issue, thanks to an indent a way down the side panel that provides 4-6mm extra clearance. However these builds use LGA and other MOBOs that have the CPU socket quite low, whereas my ASUS mobo has the AM3 socket quite high, which I do not know would allow it to fit. This may be solved by turning the 212 so it blows up/down instead of backwards, but would that affect performance at all in a rear-blowing case?

I would like to know (from real examples ideally) whether this combination is possible and if not, some shorter, but equally good coolers in the same price range (+/-£5). Another thread recommended the Cryorig H7, which would be perfect, IF I could find any for sale in the UK (I saw one reasonably priced on alternate.co.uk, but they say 'date of delivery unknown' which sounds suspiciously like 'out of stock').

Thanks for your time!

Your case has a max height of 150mm, whereas the cooler is 159mm high.

If you want a smaller but good performance CPU cooler, I'd recommend the Raijintek Aidos. It's only 13mm high, but still has 4 CDC heatpipes and a 92mm fan. You can get it for 17.5£ on Amazon (18£ with Prime)

Thanks, that seems like a great alternative, seeing as I'm not overclocked at all. Looking at reviews it only seems to fall behind the 212 in noise (smaller fan) and avg. RPM (again, smaller fan). The main reason I wanted to upgrade from the stock cooler was simply the noise, so this is a great, budget friendly solution!

P.S. I imagine you meant 130mm high rather than 13mm, THAT would be seriously impressive.

Oops, yep 13cm. That's pretty much the best value cooler. Other options are low profile coolers, but they are usually quite a bit more expensive, and much thinner, whereas your case does have the space for a tall-ish cooler.

A tip I have for this cooler is to change the fan rpm curves in the bios or os if you can; from what I read it is a bit loud by default. As long as the cpu is under 80c, it's fine.
