Very generalized question, but hard to find a specific answer. I know it comes down to fitting in budget, but when comparing the 2133 3000 3200 and differing CAS Latency, I'm not sure which one is faster or what the benefits were. I originally wanted 3200 at CL 14-14-14-34 but is it that big of an upgrade over something like the normal 16-18-18-36 or even DDR4-3000? I know for gaming, most people say it doesn't matter much, but what programs would see the benefit of faster RAM?

Solution
Faster DRAM is of most benefit to people that multi-task, do things like video rendering, using memory centric apps, using large data sets, etc. 3000-3200 is the sweet spot for DDR4 and K model CPUs for price/performance
No you wouldn't see a big increase in gaming for the most part, you'd also need a Z170 board to see any improvement at all.
It is mostly for rendering and multi-tasking, stuff that highly utilizes RAM.
What is your budget for your build and what do you need included?
(OS, monitor, peripherals)

Well I was looking to get into things like Maya, FumeFX, and Adobe AA. I have a z170 board and 6700k picked out. I know 6-8 core does better with rendering times, but figured I shouldn't worry too much about it since I'm not a professional.

Budget for memory would be up to 130. Figured 16 GB and the 6700k would be ok since I'm not working with 4K 8 hours a day like professionals do.
