They both are dual cores with hyperthreading. The big difference is the i5 has boost. The i5 laptop is $50 more and has only a 900p screen;-; and is HP. Acer has better build quality as well. I will be doing light gaming and very light 3d (i know, it's gonna lag). I also draw. If you can find anything better for $350, tell me. EDIT: also found an older gen i5 laptop (5th gen), is it any worse?

Yeah it's definitely worth it if you can afford it, it has integrated graphics and an i7 7500u which'll help a tonne even in general use, as well as allowing for some gaming.
I didn't read the full specs, but this looks to be the best option: https://www.amazon.com/HP-Notebook-15-ay011nr-15-6-Inch-Processor/dp/B01CGGOZOM/ref=gbph_img_u10_742d_b73b409f?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=6241b40e-7dcd-4d30-8e8b-ad77d69b742d&pf_rd_s=unified-hybrid-10&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=565108&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=7D0VKMJFD6FRT40VY783
The same price as the i3 but with a i5 6200u and 1080p screen. If you need me to read the full specs and compare it to the i3 laptop I can. Just reply back or message me.

I would appreciate it if you think it would make a difference.

the i7 is $600 so i might have to go i5 then. But yes this is a MUCH better deal! Thanks!
