Hi guys just wanted some help with buying new cards for my build so far we have i7 6700 32 gbs ram, Was thinking 1080 but wanted to know if there was a way to get the same performance by putting 2 cards ? Thanks

The thing is, not all games are optimized for SLI. In fact, it seems to be fewer and fewer are; when they do become SLI compatible, the patch is far later in the lifespan of the game usually. For this very reason, I always advise against it. Even if you get say, two 1060s or two 1070s, you're going to pay close to the price of a singular 1080 anyway, a card that will only drop in price from here on out, allowing you to afford a secondary one later in life when it is needed.

Another common misconception is that SLI doesn't stack the VRAM, although I believe that most 1060s and 1070s have 8GB of it now, or at least 6GB. Either way, if you're super set on going SLI, two 1060s would do the trick.

No, like Airplanegeek said, if you want the performance of a 1080, just get a 1080. You don't want to put up with the hassle of SLI issues and the fact that tons of newer games do not support the feature anyway.

Problem is you can't SLI GTX 1060s at all. Nvidia limited SLI to the GTX 1070 and above. If you want to go SLI get the GTX 1080 but only if your gaming needs require that much power otherwise a single GPU is best. I game at 4K on my GTX 1080 SLI rig and 1080p on my GTX 980 sli rig. But i also require a high level of filtering and AA (ideally 16x by 8x) at max settings. with settings like that even at 1080P a single card will be brought down to its knees (even a GTX 1080 in some games) if your trying to stay over 60FPS at all times for vsync to work properly (i use UHDTV and HDTV so no gsync available). If your not big on filtering and AA (manual settings not in-game as many games don't max out the filtering and AA) or don't mind lowering the settings some, again your better off with a single card solution. Regardless If your aiming for GTX 1080 performance or better get a GTX 1080 or two. What resolution are you gaming at?
