I shut off my pc before leaving for thanksgiving with my gf and her family, came back home about 6 hours later to see my pc still running but nothing on screen and my mouse/ keyboard werent lit up. So i manually shut it off and turned it back on, i heard one long beep, followed by two short beeps. I have an MSI 970 gaming mobo, and after looking around for that post code, i was thinking my gpu is the problem, everything had worked perfectly for a year (gpu, psu, mobo, cpu all around a year old) some things ive read have said it could be the gpu, ive moved it to another socket, same beeps. Moved around ram chips and reset cmos battery. Now it doesnt beep anymore, the fans just spin. I am at my last nerve on this because i need my pc back but im broke and cant start replacing parts trying to find the issue. Any ideas?

I did find the beep code for the Ami bios that on the board if you look here http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm
you siad 1 long beep 2 short beeps mean bad video adapter now it could be either the gpu or motherboard becuase you tried 2 sockets and nothing so i guessing it the pci-e socket. The one on the msi forums are outdated or wrong I will need to updated it.
Yes your hardware is year old but still anything can go wrong.

I did this multiple times, and now it keeps turning itself on and it shuts off in the middle of the first beep. My gf told me while i was at work it turned on and beeped on its own. And she shut it off the first time, but the second time she got up and it shut off by itself.

Is the psu a good brand or a cheap brand because that can be the issue and try using another one if you have one. If those don't work then try taking out everything and leave only the psu cpu and ram and see if it still beeps and if it still beeps the it either the cpu or motherboard if you 100% sure the cpu works then it just the motherboard. that all that we can do.
