Hello everyone,

So I got an AMD FX-6350 and a Sapphire R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 OC DUAL-X right now and I want to upgrade one of them for better gaming performance.

To upgrade the CPU I want to switch to Intel and was thinking the i7 6700k.
To upgrade the GPU I want to go for the GTX 1060 or 1070(not sure yet, suggestions are welcome :)).

Which one of the two will have the biggest impact in my PC's gaming performance?

Thanks for taking the time :)

Hard to say with your components. They are not bad but not that good either.... You would probably see the bigger improvement by upgrading the GPU, but if you stay with the FX6350 then the difference between the 1060 and the 1070 is not that great, because the 1070 will get bottlenecked a lot more. Best would be to upgrade both.

but it depends a little on your games as well, if you are a die hard Cities Skylines fan then the CPU would probably the better choise, but most games require more graphic power than cpu power

Quite honestly, upgrade the CPU. The current AMD CPUs are nearing "ancient" status, and that 6350 is just going to bottleneck anything better than a 290x, which isn't a huge jump from your current card.

I have the i7 6700k and so far it has been working like a dream. I upgraded to it from my FX-8350 and I've seen a massive difference. You will see an even bigger one. Besides, the price of those GPUs will just go down come January when the 1080 Ti releases, thus being more affordable for you and allowing you to save up some money in the meantime.

In my opinion is better to upgrade to lets say I5 6600K and 1060 than i7 6700k or 1070 by it self. Can you put all your components and your planed budget of upgrading. People here can set you up good round up pc of upgrades for that money :D

Regarding to the games I play its mostly CS:GO and sometimes games like GTA 5 or Project CARS.

At this moment I only have a budget for one of the two upgrades but in the end everything is getting upgraded ofcourse.

Other components:
MB: MSI 970 GAMING
Memory: 4x4 gb kingston hyper x 1600mhz
PS: be quiet 730W
and 128 SSD + 2TB HDD

I would say go for i5 6500 and gtx 1060 or even 1050 ti or amd 470. and upgrade rams with it also motherboard. you will not get much from just CPU or GPU alone. and you will spend a lot of money.
Is better to keep this what you have till you save up some money than buy all together.
