I have built about 6 computers in my life. So not a lot of experience, but I was successful.

I am looking to build a computer for < $900. I started a few hundred lower, but forgot the OS and monitor need. This build is from scratch. The build must include the OS and the Monitor. I believe I have a keyboard and mouse.

I would like a nice solid foundation that will allow me to upgrade in the future. Expandibility / upgrade worthiness is key.

Requirements
- MS Windows 10 Home 64 Bit
- Monitor
- On board Wifi Capability
- This system is primarily for gaming. My daughter likes web based games. High requirements not required. However, as she gets older I expect her to want more power for games.
- This system must stream Netflix and Youtube.
- This system must allow for video editing and graphics design. She is now getting into that.
- This system must run Office. I have an older version of office Primarily for Word and Powerpoint.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Thank You in advance

Solution
It falls between the 1050 and 1060. Very good card. I would have linked it, but then you mentioned you need something less powerful/budget friendly.
Anyways, you can go for it. Should be well appropriate with the build.
> You dont need a z170 board as it is meant for overclocking, hence more expensive. You have a locked chip that cannot be overclocked.
> You dont need a cpu cooler as the stock cooler that comes with the cpu is plenty.
> 8gb ram is fast becoming saturated and 16gb is starting to be considered as standard, and for video editing and rendering as you have mentioned above, more ram will be beneficial in the long run.
> SSD makes a lot of difference in OS operations and software/application load times, but it doesnt help much in secondary storage. 120gb is enough for that and you can channel that money elsewhere. It will be more beneficial if you keep a bigger HDD for secondary storage as 240gb space will wane out fast.
> A faster video card will also help in the long run to run future games.
> The psu included is a very good unit and is selling cheap these days.
> You wanted wi-fi capability and the wireless adapter is missing from your build.

Optimized your build where ever it was necessary including better card/monitor.

Thank You Hellfire...

It seems that the GPU is no longer available at amazon. Now the best is $208. Too much and too good for her to play web based games right now.

I do have a couple other questions for you...

Currently, I run a AMD Radeon HD 6800 series card. Would this MB be able to take such an old card? I know that card is more than powerful enough for her in running her games. I know it's more than powerful enough to run her drawing and video freeware she uses. I was thinking I'd upgrade my GPU and give her the old one.

I have an older WD Blue 500GB drive. I'll clean that up for storage. She doesn't need much right now.

Do I need the artic silver if I use the standard cooler? I'm sure the CPU and cooler come with standard compound. Do you recommend the artic silver anyway?

> You can use any thermal compound you want. Installing the cooler without thermal is however not recommended. I included it because it was a part of your list.

> All current motherboards have pcie x 16 slots to take x 16 cards. But your card is quiet old by now and its going to be obsolete very soon in future.
This is a current gen card which should be good enough on a budget... https://pcpartpicker.com/product/G3H48d/zotac-geforce-gtx-1050-2gb-mini-video-card-zt-p10500a-10l
