Hey guys (once again.)

I have started building my new computer I put everything together except for the graphics card and my 1TB HDD storage(USED IN MY OLD SYSTEM).

I want to install the HDD today.

I put my operating system on my solid state drive (250 GB. )
First of all, is 250 GB enough to put Steam on it and a couple of games?
Second of all, when I add my HDD (1 TB ) How do I configure it to save the rest of my games (7-12 more games) on to that along with pictures, documents, music and other infrequently used software?

Do I have to make a partition so it automatically will download whatever I tell it to on the HDD or can I do that manually?

Any help is greatly appreciated , I've had great luck with the fantastic ppl of TomsHardware. Hell, I built my new computer with the help of these forums.

Ps. I don't have a gpu yet , I will be ordering that in a week.an evga gtx 1070. Just want to get everything up and running gap I can plug it in when it comes and get gaming.

Welcome back!

1) Yes, a 250GB SSD is plenty for the OS and 1 or 2 games. That is one of the most common set-ups at this point.

2) You can go into the Steam client and set where games are saved in the options menu. A quick google will give you the step-by-step if you need a walkthrough, but it is quite easy to set. You can also select the HDD drive as the 'destination' drive for any individual Steam game you download during the game's installation process.

3) You don't need any special partitions, just one NTFS partition for the entire HDD drive.

For other files (Doc/Music/Video/etc), see this:
Win 7 & 8: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1834397/ssd-redirecting-static-files.html
Win 8.1 & 10: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2024314/windows-redirecting-folders-drives.html

For your Steam games, see this:

In the steam client:
Steam
Settings
Downloads
Steam Library Folders
Add library folder

As said
Steam - goto settings & create a steam folder on your 1tb drive

Once done whenever you download or install a steam game you will get a selectable option on which drive to install it (I have steam games spread across 4 different drives)

If you're using win 10 you can set defaults from settings/system/storage as per info here.

When you say " create a Steam folder in my 1 TB storage HDD drive- do you mean just go into the DRIVE --> click "new Folder"--> type "Steam" as folder name and put my games in there? I dont understand.... my storage drive will be completely empty when install it...

Yes. And the folder does not have to be called "Steam"
Call it whatever you wish. "MySteamGames" or "RubysGames" or "SomeFolderFullOfGames"
