Hello, so I'm currently in a really bad position in terms of my build. To get to the point, I have a fx 6300 while also housing a gtx 970. I'd really like to upgrade to an i5 as a store near me currently sells the i5-6500 for $170 along with a bundled ASUS Z170-AR LGA 1151 ATX Intel Motherboard for $70.
Thing is, I've heard about these new zen cpu's amd is planning to release but I have no idea whether or not they'll work with my Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard. Any advice would be fantastic

There are, but DDR3L - you need low voltage DDR3 (1.35V) whereas your DDR3 with an AMD build is almost guaranteed to be 1.5V which can do damage to the IMC/

Go with DDR4 with Skylake.

Zen will use am4. The am3 socket is long dead. Just get that deal as it actually is a great price for all of those things. Do keep in mind that you will need ddr4 ram instead of ddr3.

Are there any intel motherboards that use DDR3 ram?

Yes but they are
1. More expensive
2. Require specific types of ddr3
3. The z1xx chipsets were designed with ddr4 in mind
