Hello all. First post ever and I would like to give preliminary thanks to the community for any assistance, as well as providing a rich and invaluable knowledge base for the public.

Here is my dilemma - I have an i7-960 CPU which has a locked multiplier. I am new to overclocking but put in my due diligence of research before attempting anything. I was rearing to start my OC and was essentially going to follow this bottom-up procedure -
http://www.masterslair.com/how-to-overclock-intel-core-i7-i5-i3-cpu-overclocking-guide
http://www.masterslair.com/determining-your-maximum-bclk-base-clock-frequency-i7-i5-i3

In order to OC this CPU the only option is to increase Bclk and while the guide covers adjustments to memory and general voltages it does not address the Bclks effect of other peripherals, namely GPU and HDD. I have read of other successful OCs on an i7-960 but how do you safeguard your harddrive or GPU and other peripherals from a ubiquitous Baseclock increase? It would seem this issue would be encountered with any CPU having a locked multiplier but I have been unable to find direct answers, other than a general consensus of "increasing Bclk can potentially damage the HDD."

Some general system info:
CPU: Intel Core i7-960 @ 3.2GHz, Socket 1366 LGA
Motherboard: MSI X58 Pro-E (MS-7522) 3.0
BIOS: AMI V8.8

Thank you all so much. Please let me know if other information is required.
