I am a little familiar with how to navigate around Windows and OS X and check drivers and logs for issues and what not. But Zorin really has me wondering what I am looking at. Is this what i have to look forward to on any linux OS ? OR ... is there an OS that navigates similar to Windows or OS X?

OR OR OR is there some other base program or whatever that it is based on that I can learn that will help me understand exactly what I am looking at?

cinnamon is just a different GUI (aka shell or desktop). there are many. zorin uses its own custom GUI. Ubuntu default is Unity. fedora default is gnome3.

others like xfce, unity, gnome, kde, lxde and more. then there are window managers like openbox, and tiling window managers like i3m.

be careful here because you have stumbled down the rabbit hole that is EVERYTHING is customizable.

i found the hardinfo app and its pretty much what I needed. I will look a little more into what those commands you listed do, one I see lists the drivers and their info but not sure what to compare it against unless i have to look up each individual one or if there is a way that the system checks to see if its out of date like device manager does... Perhaps i will check out drp.su and see if their device program will detect anyting. ty for the Quick reply and info.

Man I have NO IDEA what I did but I was frustrated and decided to install mint but could not figure out how to make a bootable USB on linux since none of the programs i dl'd would run and so i just put the iso image on the flash drive and tehn extracted it there as well just to see if by chance that my work (ikr lol) but i was desperate so after my machine rebooted it started up and all I can say is wow, all of the features i wanted and the look i wanted was right there. The whole desktop gui has changed, the look, the interaction man its really nice! i think i must have somehow extracted those mint files on top of zorin or something because its a new look but same programs i had installed before. man im not sure i want to fix this either.

edit: I jsut checked and the 'Theme" that my system is currently under is Cinnamon lol ....what?

But my OS is still Zorin. I guess thats possible in the world of linux if its the same platform ... o well. cool with me.

that is awesome! I deleted zorin and installed cinnamon. These links are golden! Thanks!
