Ok I am sick of this problem. I have been living with terrible internet for years now. I max out at 100KBps. I have learned to live with this issue. Me being an avid gamer, I like to take in new video games. Ill let 5-10GB games download over the course of 1-2 nights when other family members aren't using it. But 5-10GB is the most I can handle. Now I have just bought BF1 a 40GB download. Left it on for 4 hours when I was into town and managed 2%. Countless times I have called Frontier (Internet Provider) to complain about this issue. And there excuse is always that I live too far out of reach of their signals. I do live pretty far out in the sticks, but I wonder is this really the issue? or is this just what they say. They even send people out here sometimes but its always the same answer "There's not much we can do. You live too far out" and they leave after wiggling a few wires which does absolutely nothing. Doesn't even speed it up a bit. Now I just want to know is this a real issue? And if so should I atleast be getting more than 100KBps? I'm positive our plan ensures more than that.. Thank you in advance for your help!

what kind of technology is this? is it ADSL? VDSL? DOCSIS?
if it's VDSL, you'd need to live within 1100m of an access remote unit (ARU). if the next ARU is more than 1100m, you're out of luck,
with ADSL(2+) it's basically the same, only the range varies depending on the line used to up to 4000m (but the speed will continuously drop). also depending on the landline quality there's literally nothing the ISP can do (besides installing an entirely new landline from their digital subscriber line access multiplexer DSLAM to the Service Area Interface SAI which is horrendously expensive). Also there is the issue of how the line is brought to your house -- lines that are installed overland are generally worse.

if it's DOCSIS or mobile internet then your line is most likely just overbooked.
