First of all, this PC turned 4 years old in September, so I have a feeling age may be a factor here. It was my first first and only PC build, so far...

Now my problem, PC is not displaying anything on screen, simple as that. The light on the tower turns on, and I can hear some stuff working in there, but no output to monitor. I've tried a few basic things to start, like a new HDMI cable, hooking HDMI to my tv, and switching the output from the GPU to the Mobo, none of those helped.

I suspect the problem may be the Mobo or CPU, but I have no idea on anything after that. I should note, the computer had been slightly sluggish recently, and yesterday it actually froze on me for a few seconds, it had never done that before. Also, this morning, I couldn't get any sound out of my headphones, even though the little visualizer thing on the taskbar shows it was playing. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now it seems like it may have been related.

I have a feeling it may be time to build a new pc, but it would be nice if I could get a couple more weeks out of this one while I gameplan and save some funds for a new one, if necessary.

Any ideas on how I can diagnose or pinpoint the problem?

suggestions as I did not read you did this, but might be assumed on your side of things;

1. if the video card is bad, and remains plugged in, it can continue to interfere with normal operations of the motherboard. so I suggest taking it out from case, plug cable to internal mobo video output and boot in bios and set it to use internal GPU and see what result you get.
2. Power supplies often cause system failure or "looks good but not running" and people assume it is the motherboard or GPU.
have you tested it ? replaced it ?
Couple of things that can cause this from your description. Heat and Dust.
The unit is 4 years old, when was the last time you cleaned inside the Case.? And I mean properly. I live on the coast and still pockets of dust build up.
Do you check your system temperatures regularly.?
If it won't start after a good clean and if you want to keep it going then a strip down and benchtest would be needed. Other wise upgrade and build a new system. 4 years is not a bad run.

Well that worked, it's probably been a good 3-4 months since I opened it up and cleaned it. And to be honest, it wasn't really that dirty, as least compared to how dirty it has been in the past. I guess with it's age it takes less to make it spaz out. I think I'm still gonna build a new one, lol
