Hi guys i recently built my first pc / gaming rig and i decided to install my old laptop 500GB hdd.
I recovered and copied all my old files onto my external hdd, scanned the old hdd and formatted it to use until it goes and use as space until i get my wd 2TB hdd.

I installed S.M.A.R.T software on my o.s. ssd and it came up with a caution notice. What are your thoughts on the results and how long do you predict it will run for? Bearing in mind its 6 years old lol. This is just for interest and fun really.

Solution
you've 1 pending sector, which (from memory) a sector that it knows it shouldn't write to, but hasn't replaced yet (as it doesn't need to yet).

Watch this value, if it increases you have a problem, if not you don't. Make a backup anyway.

Given it's age start considering replacement, 7 years is a good age for a HDD to reach.
