So im going to be selling my custom built computer but need help going about wiping the hard drive. Is it possible to wipe it without taking off windows? and if that is not possible what is the safest way to completely wipe a hard drive without the SSD malfunctioning when it does get wiped?. I would like to just wipe everything but the OS so that the people im selling it to dont have to buy a new copy and everything is for sure working thanks for the replies everyone.

Solution
First, make a record of your current activation code.
If you do not have it, a free app "magical jelly bean" will find it for you.

Then do whatever secure erase you want on the windows drive.
Simply deleting files or a reformat can leave files as discoverable by a good forensic app.
Then do a clean install of windows and reactivate using the original key.
