Assistance on buying a new modem & router

So, I've left my provider due to the constant crashes and the incredibly slow internet and the company we are transferring to requires the user to purchase their own Modem & Router.

So, I'd like to know if there are any good modems & routers (Preferably hybrid) which you can recommend under 150$ which will give great gaming performance?
Also, I have very little importance on wireless use. But it would be nice to get a good wireless connection for my laptop. We've got 2 computers both connected via Ethernet one laptop and an Xbox one.

This is the Dlink DIR-655 router I used.

I also used the Motorola surfboard SB6120.

I have them both available for sale if that is of any interest to you.
I now use Comcast Xfinity supplied combo modem/router/telephone.

Can you tell me the exact model you used? Also I will ask them tomorrow what routers & modems they support. But I think it will work with any standard one.
