I would recommend just going up in increments testing for stability each time. Overclocking varies from cpu to cpu, my friend has an 8350 and he managed to get his up to 4.5 Ghz stable on an H100i v2 but your 8350 might go further.

Heat could become an issue with a single 140mm Rad, but with all overclocking, it come down to the given system. that motherboard is not the highest end of overclocking boards, and I would not try pushing it that hard. I would aim for 4.5 GHz and take it from there pending temps do not get out of hand. always keep the core voltage as low as possible.

yes almost every CPU has a "wall" at which you can just pile up the voltage and get minimal returns. when my phenom was more stable I had to push 1.7V to get over 5Ghz in hind sight that was silly as it certainly caused instability down the road.

1.5 V is a pretty good place to stop.

You have a far superior board with a great power phase and thermal design , that makes a big difference.

He has a budget board , you can't compare the two.

I'm just a beginner and now I think 5ghz is too high since my mobo is not that great but I would like to get around 4.5-8 just so my gpu bottleneck

Here is a good guide, your board has the same or similar bios used to make the guide so it should be easy to follow: http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-bulldozer-and-piledriver-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboard

I would do some research of your own as well. Be careful with the voltages, that board does not have the most robust power delivery setup. You should (this differs with every chip) be able to get 4.4-4.6ghz around 1.4-1.45v core voltage I wouldn't go any higher than that, 1.45v might be pushing it as it is. Keep an eye on temps.

I am in the process of buying it and still have the chance to change mobo -

Which one is good

2510ASUS M5A97 R2.0 -- AMD 970 w/ 2x PCIe x16, 2x USB 3.0, 6x USB 2.0

Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P -- AMD 970+5

GIGABYTE GA-970-GAMING-SLI -- 2x PCI Express x16, 2x USB 3.1, 4x USB 3.0, 1x M.2, DDR4 Memory+16

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 R5 -- 4x PCIe 2.0 x16, 2x USB 3.0, 8x USB 2.0, DDR3 Memory+58

Are you still in the process everything else? Because honestly I would not recommend an AMD CPU at all if that's the case, I figured you already had this stuff.

To answer your question the Gigabyte GA-990FXA is the only board I would buy out of those with the intention of overclocking.
