Even when the fx6300 is OC'd? Wow, the i5 6500 must be a beast. Also, is the GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-H170-Gaming 3 a good mobo for my new setup?

The FX-6300 is simply aging tech at this point. A Skylake i3 defeats it at gaming, even overclocked to hell, fairly easily.

I was getting CPU capped in a few games with an FX6300 oc'ed to around that, jumped to an i7-6700k and had 20% cpu usage in the same games running stock speed. The 6700k is a bit faster than the 6500 of course but that gives you a bit of an idea just how much faster the skylake CPUs are.
