Hey guys, building a new computer soon. Wanted to know if i could wipe the SSD i currently have in my computer (Samsung 850 EVO) and put it into the new one. Not exactly sure how to go about this, software, etc. Any help is great!

Thanks,
Sam

Download the Windows media creation tool to a USB stick( Windows 10 ) or use an older OS you own. Then plug in only the SSD you are going to install Windows to. During the install process delete any partitions and format the drive. That will leave you a clean drive to install Windows on. After install you can plug in any storage drives but you want them disconnected during the initial installation. All there is to it. :)
You can always wipe a SSD and reuse it. However, are you trying to save anything on it? Are you going to use it as the home for your OS or just for other stuff? I mean I have OS and programs on my SSD and then on my HDD there are movies, pictures, files....

If you don't care about any of the info on the SSD just format it during the Windows installation process. It will prompt you to do it. Or you can manually format it if you're using it as fast storage.

Through a series of unfortunate events, there's nothing important left. I do have an HDD that also has the OS on it (had HDD first, mirrored everything to ssd later and booted from there). I was hoping to give the computer (minus the SSD) to my father. What's the most painless way to make the SSD clean and set for installation in a new system, OS and all Thanks for the quick response!
