Hi, I am setting up my new desktop next week.
My Rig: i7 6700, G1 Sniper B7 (B150), Gtx 1060 asus strix, 16gb ddr4, 1tb wd blue, vs 650w corsair. Currently I have a 19 inch lcd (1360x768). So with the little budget that I am left with is for either a SSD or a 1080p monitor. What should I go for?

Well putting this in the PC Gaming section probably wasnt a very good idea then.. Your GPU will limit any 3d rendering anyway, but the only thing an SSD is better than a HDD for is sequential transfer speeds, unless you get a high end SSD with huge IOPS or an NVME.

The benefits and setbacks of both options are pretty simple.

And you can just transfer an OS to an SSD without any reformatting.

Are you sure? My setup wont be primarily used for gaming. I have a lot 3d (Maya) and level designing work (Unreal Engine 4).
Plus if I later buy a SSD, lets say after 3-4 months. I will have to format my C drive and setup windows on the SSD all over again.

If you are going to use the PC for anything and not exclusively for gaming, I suggest you go with the SSD. Save up money for a little more while and get a 1080p monitor. In the mean time, you'll have a really fast PC and be able to enjoy games at ultra settings at 1360x768 res. After a while, you'll realize how much an SSD enhances your computing experience.
