A question of wattage. How many watts does an Asus 1060 6GB OC ROG card need?

So ive got my new graphics card, installed it to my new rig and a friend said he thought my power supply might not be good enough for my system.

My build list is:
Intel i5 4690k @ stock
MSI Gaming 5 mobo
Be quiet! Dark power Pro 11 650w
Asus ROG GeForce Gtx 1060 6GB OC
Kingston savage hyper X 240GB SSD
2 x 4GB Kingston savage Hyper X dual mem kit Ram
Be quiet! silent base 800 with 3 pure wings 2 fans
will be getting a wd 2tb hdd

Any thoughts?

The reason i didnt go for a high wattage was because through research and ncix videos i was told people get far too high wattage psu's they dont get any where near using as computer parts are very energy efficient these days and to get an optimum use/ performance out of your psu you need to have it operating around 50-75% capacity

Really? So could you tell me how much head room i have at current configuration?

I see that on the box it says 500w minimum psu but im guessing this is to keep things on the safe side.

Also i have an overclocking key with the psu which groups the individual 12v rails to a single 12v rail.
Would i need to use this if i was going to overclock the graphics card or my 4690k?

Yes its one of the top tier ones thank you i thought i chose well

Thank you again 13monkey you are very helpful on here.

Question. If i upgrade the ram to 16 or 32 GB will my psu still be sufficient?

I don't see you pulling more than 350 watts from that, maybe spikes to 400.

If you look at the wiki page for bronze silver specs etc. It'll show the efficiency that they have to reach.

Thats great new 13monkey.

Im planning on getting one of those energy meter plugs to see how much wattage im pulling then i can report this back to the forum.

UPDATE: So 6 month's on and my first gaming rig build Orion is still going strong, I have overclocked my Devils canyon 4690k to 4.2ghz and i've bought an energenie energy reader plug which indicated my system draws an average of just over 200 watts from the wall in game on a 40 player live match star wars battlefront with my strix 1060 6GB overclocked to 109%.

I thought an update would be in order for you guys to see.

That's great, and that'll give you an idea of running costs, so 1 unit of electricity maybe £0.14/$0.15 for 5 hours of gaming.

From a PSU point of view it's the peaks to watch for, the average is nice to know, however a better reason for getting one that is not going to be stressed is that they are a pita to change over, and you've got sufficient room to put a titan in there if you wanted to.
