Hi PC folks,
I recently ordered and tried to install a new RAM that is identical to the one I bought and installed last year. The power supply switch was off when I installed it, and when I turned it back on and then turned on the computer, everything worked fine. Then couple minutes later, a blue screen popped onto my screen and I took a glimpse at the bottom which said something about RAM dumping before the computer restarted. I was worried so I then turned off the computer and then the power supply switch again, and I removed the new RAM and tried to put it back on just in case I placed it incorrectly. Once again, I turned the computer back on and I looked at BIOS but now it did not recognize my new RAM. Now, at this point I was nervous, and I turned off the computer but I had forgotten to turn off the power supply switch and I removed the new RAM. Then I removed the older RAM that was never touched and placed it on a different slot. I tried to turn on everything back on and now the screen is black...I have no clue what happened. I can still push the power button and the lights, CPU fan, case fan, and GPU turn on. However I receive no signal on my monitor now
Out of desperation, I started googling and ended up on this site which looked promising. I really need help. Did I break something? Any tips and suggestions are valuable to me.
The RAM is Corsair Vengeance 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory
I have a motherboard called MSI MSI Gaming 990FXA-GAMING AM3+/ AM3 AMD 990FX & SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX AMD Motherboard
I looked at a thread with a similar situation and it was mentioning about CMOS. So I looked up the manual and saw that I need to buy me a jumper and I could try resetting the CMOS. However, can I get some opinions on my situation as soon as possible? I can't get my hands on a jumper until about a good week, but I feel so terrible I just want some information on what I did wrong, and if I broke something...
*Edit: Out of nervousness, I also removed all the RAM sticks and tried turning on the computer. That is probably when the monitor started being blank. Does this need a CMOS reset?
