New RAM installation trouble

Hi PC folks,

I recently ordered and tried to install a new RAM that is identical to the one I bought and installed last year. The power supply switch was off when I installed it, and when I turned it back on and then turned on the computer, everything worked fine. Then couple minutes later, a blue screen popped onto my screen and I took a glimpse at the bottom which said something about RAM dumping before the computer restarted. I was worried so I then turned off the computer and then the power supply switch again, and I removed the new RAM and tried to put it back on just in case I placed it incorrectly. Once again, I turned the computer back on and I looked at BIOS but now it did not recognize my new RAM. Now, at this point I was nervous, and I turned off the computer but I had forgotten to turn off the power supply switch and I removed the new RAM. Then I removed the older RAM that was never touched and placed it on a different slot. I tried to turn on everything back on and now the screen is black...I have no clue what happened. I can still push the power button and the lights, CPU fan, case fan, and GPU turn on. However I receive no signal on my monitor now :(

Out of desperation, I started googling and ended up on this site which looked promising. I really need help. Did I break something? Any tips and suggestions are valuable to me.

The RAM is Corsair Vengeance 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory
I have a motherboard called MSI MSI Gaming 990FXA-GAMING AM3+/ AM3 AMD 990FX & SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX AMD Motherboard

I looked at a thread with a similar situation and it was mentioning about CMOS. So I looked up the manual and saw that I need to buy me a jumper and I could try resetting the CMOS. However, can I get some opinions on my situation as soon as possible? I can't get my hands on a jumper until about a good week, but I feel so terrible I just want some information on what I did wrong, and if I broke something...

*Edit: Out of nervousness, I also removed all the RAM sticks and tried turning on the computer. That is probably when the monitor started being blank. Does this need a CMOS reset?

Solution
Reset CMOS, then add old and see if all boots well. As far as the added DRAM - there are no guarantees when mixing DRAM, even of the same exact model, you can pull sticks right off the assembly line and they might play, might not. That's why manufacturers test DRAM together - to find sticks for a package that will play nice ;)

Thank you for reading my post, sir

I inserted my regular (the older) RAM back into the slot where it was originally and turned on the computer, but I still have a blank screen on the monitor. It was stupid of me to play around with the RAM when initially things seemed to work fine. What does a chip failure mean? Did I destroy my CPU? :'(

no error beeps ? just a blank screen?

like any hardware they are mass produced, when you buy ram and 15 mins later you get a ram error, chances are the new ram failed. why I suggested to return it. try this while you have the new ram as well

disconnect power, remove old chips of memory, put new chip only of memory in their place wait 15mins. leave power cord disconnected from power supply, then reconnect, power up pc and try to boot.

I only have a headset and when I put em on and turned on the computer, I only hear a small static buzz with a periodic thump noise. Yes, I have a blank screen and the monitor does not receive any signal. Other than the ram, did I break anything like the motherboard?

Hi, thank you for reading my post. I'm a bit new to computer builds and computer things in general, but based on my situation, did I do something severe? Did I break anything? I'll definitely get me one of those jumper things and try resetting the CMOS.
