hello, I have read many posts of how to install an anti-static wrist strap, and that you NEED to have the PSU plugged into a ground wall place, but I don't have any ground wall plug, so how should I use the wrist strap in this situation. It's my first PC build, and I'm working on a wooden table, wich is sat on plastic legs, on a wooden floor, and I don't have ANY ground wall plus. So the question is, how to mount a wrist strap without an anti-static mad and PSU plugged into a ground switch

Edited: Nothing in my house is probably grounded

thanks for the help

Solution
Just connect the strap onto the case your working with. You see, the whole idea is that your working on the same electrical level, that is all. So you will if you connect it to the case. You do not have to have a psu or ground plug.

Connect it to a heavy piece of un painted steel or your case. People worry so much about ESD, honestly I think its very unwarranted for most situations. I have never used an anti static wrist band when building a pc and never had an issue. When I was in school we purposely tried to kill a DDR2 ram stick by rubbing it on the carpet for a few minutes and even that didn't manage to kill it. As a precaution all I do is touch something steel before I touch any electronics to mostly discharage myself, never had an issue doing that

I've been building rigs for well over 25 years and haven' used one singoing back 30 years with mainframes and minis, just take proper precautions, build on a non-conductive surface, avoid working on carpet, touch the rigs case before handling components
