Hello,

It's my first time migrating my OS + all programs and files in it, to a larger HDD. My OS is Windows 7 Pro.

I'm following this method: http://www.howtogeek.com/199068/how-to-upgrade-your-existing-hard-drive-in-under-an-hour/

(if you have a preferred/better method please let me know :D )

My couple of questions:

1. Do I need to format the new HDD that I'm migrating to? (the larger Hard Drive), before I copy the clone to it.

2. Do I need to do anything in the BIOS (boot?) or move the SATA cords around after the migration?

Thanks!

Thank you for the quick reply!

For #1, do I just plug the new internal HDD to a SATA port on the motherboard (and of course to a power supply)? Do nothing else? It will show up when time to migrate the cloned C: ?

Yup. just plug in the drive and boot. it will show the partitions if any. Then download Macrium Reflect, then when you go to clone your existing disk you select the other disk as the target disk. It will wipe the partitions as clone. You can also go in and delete the partitions (In macrium reflect when you select target disk) and then copy over the partitions setup from the old drive and then expand the partition to the full size there or clone everything then go into disk management and expand the drive after.

Thanks, I just finished but it did not seem to work. I'm only getting a black screen with cursor when I boot up with the new HDD.

For some reason, it recognizes my new HDD as F: Drive though.

I manually selected the partitions with maximum size
