Hi.
I got this really old camera which is using, Sony Mini Dv cassettes.
I really want to transfer the videos to my pc.
The camera came with a driver dvd, but it is for Windows Xp. I have Windows 8.1.
I did actually try installing the xp drivers on my windows 8.1 pc, and 3 programs got installed on my pc, they where called: Acrobat Reader 5.0, Digital Photo Navigator 1.0 and ImageMixer VCD Ver.1.1. Unfortunately I could still not transfer the videos. So pls help me. Pls give me a netsite where i can install the drivers I need for Win 8.1. I really need the Videos. (-:

Oh, that does make it a bit more clear. FireWire to USB does not work or at least I've yet to hear of a case where someone has got it to work. The communication with FireWire and USB just doesn't seem to work. If you are using a desktop computer you can purchase a FireWire card and install it on your PC's motherboard. Link to the legacy FireWire driver is in an earlier response. If the camcorder is an SD camcorder and it has an A/V out then you could use a video capture device and the A/V cable. You would connect the A/V cable from the camcorder to the capture device and connect the capture device to the computer via a USB cable.
