AMD 4300 memory slots supported

I currently have an AMD Phenom II 945. When I bought it I didn't realize it only supported 2 memory slots so it left me with 2 extra sticks of ram. It worked well enough with 2x4 gb of ram for the last 4 years but now with all I am doing on my system I constantly run out of ram which causes me grief.
I am considering purchasing an AMD 4300 but am a little gun shy as I can't find anything that states how many ram slots it supports.
I would be very grateful if someone could answer this question for me.

Solution
The issue is not the amount of sticks, it's likely the density of them. There are plenty of people that use that CPU with 4 sticks of RAM. It's odd that you have that high end board with an old CPU, but the board will run an FX83xx easily, not really worth upgrading to the 4300 at all. The specs on the Phenom II 945 show it supports dual channel RAM with "DIMMs per channel: up to 2"
That CPU would not limit your RAM slots, it's the motherboard. If you want to get a cheaper system, get an Intel i3-6100. The AMD 4300 is cheap but it's also pretty slow. What exactly are you doing on the system to use 8 GB of RAM? How did you check the usage?

Thanks for the reply.
MB is an Gigabyte 990FXA UD3. I bought 4x4gb of dual channel ram to make certain my system could keep up with advances for a long time.
When I set it up using 16 gigs of ram it ran poorly, when I posted my problems on a forum the reply I got from either Gigabyte or AMD was that the Phenom II 945 would only support two sticks of ram. I did confirm this on the AMD website.
I removed 2 sticks of ram and it has run fine since.
I do a lot of photo and video editing, as well as research which takes up a lot of ram.
I confirmed the ram usage with task master and another program, which I have since discarded and forgotten the name of.
I was disappointed at the time, 4 or 5 years ago, as I had 2 sticks of dual channel ram that I couldn't use. This year it has become more of a problem with running out of free ram.
When I researched my new system back then I found no mention of ram limitation for the 945. I would like to make certain that the 4300 can support 4 sticks of ram before purchasing.
Again thanks for your reply.

System runs fine with Phenom II other than the recent problem of running out of free ram. 990FXA was replacing an old worn out board, 4 or 5 years ago. If I could get my other two sticks of ram installed I wouldn't be considering purchasing the 4300. I usually upgrade to components only as needed and that are a few years old as my computing needs don't require the most current high end components.
Thank you for taking time to reply.
