Hello, friends,

Pardon my english.
This is my first post on this forum. Some months ago, one of my machines was attacked by a virus, and I installed Mcafee antivirus, which not only cleaned the virus, but also, detected some system files as virus and removed them. My win 7 has tons of software carefully installed, so I don´t wish to make a fresh install and install everything again, because 95% of them are working, but some things now are really annoying: I can´t access windows firewall, for example, not I can´t access my Canon software anymore due alterations on the register file or something like. I wish i could install and correct faulty parts of my windows 7 pro again without having to install the OP system complete. On the services, I see firewall is in automatic mode, but can´t be started due to an error 126. I don´t know how to solve it. Can you ?

Any help is welcomed !

Method 3: System File Checker (SFC)

SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

a) Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.

How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7?

1000 thank you, my dear friend ! I tested all steps, and the last one solved the problem. ( sfc /scannow ). I was almost giving up, when this last method worked. I cannot thank you enough. This saved my windows. I will make an image with Acronis True Image of it recovered and save for the future. For those interested, after following those steps, I got rid of several problems caused by virus/antivirus on my windows, such as: I couldn´t access firewall tab, I couldn´t access the "share tab" nor share folders or drives, and I couldn´t access canon cameras plugged on my PC. Now, everything is running fine again.

All the best. You made a person very happy today.

Thank you very much. I had tried that before, uninstalled and reinstalled many times, even messed with the register, but incredibly, when I followed the steps provided above, this problem was solved too. Wow! I have fought this battle for months...now I can use my camera connected to PC again and broadcast live to the internet, using a capture card and HDMI output again. PC didn´t recognize SOME canon cameras, but recognized others. Thank you !
