I recommend trying to clear all the dust out off the card, if that doesn't improve anything your card is dying. Dust, poor air flow, and low quality PSU's can be a cause of GPU death. A GTX 1050ti a good choice if you are looking for the same performance, and a GTX 1060 or higher will be an upgrade.
When I reinstall the latest NVIDIA drive update it works just fine but when opening any game/editng software it comes back altogether, is there a service running in the backround that may be glitching it because I have MSI Afterburner installed but never overclocked.
This all started happening from the "Nvidia Driver has stopped working and successfully recovered " too, leaving this thread open for any more help that is recommended, in the mean time i'll try to find something else on the pc that might be causing it.
