RAM sticks not working

Hey so I fixed my computer and it turned out to be a RAM problem. I can only run one stick and not two or else the display and USB port won't work. I've updated the BIOS and still nothing.

Solution
It will register as being in single channel modde with both in the same channel, but if all DRAM is seen and usable, then it's indicative of a channel problem, which could be Cooler too tight in a corner or side, bent pins in the socket, or a channel failure of the mobo

I have a MSI Gaming m5 z170a, i7 6700k, 2x8 GB Corsair LPX Vengeance. Right now i'm using my computer with one ram. Should I go back to the stores and exchange it for a 1x16 Gb?

Okay, sorry for the late reply, I got super busy with computer science homework. As of right now, i'm able to use a ram stick in slot 1 and in slot 2. I just can't use two different channels, is it okay to use my computer like this? Window 10 registers 16 gigabytes.

I haven't checked if the cpu pins are bent yet, i loosened the screws on the cooler. So what's the difference between single channel mode and dual channel mode? I'm running Ryse Son of Rome right now and my computer seems to be working completely fine

I guess i'll sacrifice the speed, computer is working completely fine except for that problem. I don't want to mess around and screw something up, thanks for the help

Actually last question :S, would you personally replace your cpu if you think it's the CPU's bent pin that the dual channeling is not working. Even though the computer is working completely fine, besides having to use single channeling?

With a Z170, it's the pins in the socket which means replacing the mobo, rather than the CPU. Getting an RMA on the mobo is hard, as most all manufacturers blame bent socket pins on the user (why I always suggest checking the socket before buying or if mail order, film opening the delivery box, mobo box and checking the socket, then you have proof it arrived that way. If me, I'd replace the mobo as I use large amounts of DRAM in all my rigs and need all channels operating

Okay, but I only got 16 gigabytes of ram when i really only need 6, the price difference between 8 and 16 gigs was like 10 bucks on Black Friday. In this case i'm going to just keep everything and pray there's nothing wrong.
