GPU drops frames after an hour of play time..?

So i recently just upgraded my GPU from a R7 370 and then to a RX 470 4gb. I made sure i fully uninstalled the drivers. So i noticed while i was playing a game (Forza Horizon 3) after about an hour or so of just playing i went from a steady 60+ FPS to 35-40 fps. This only happens after an hour or so. I have tried this on other games and it does the same. Is it a bad card or what could the problem be?

PC specs: AMD FX-8350, 8gb ddr3 ram, 600w PSU,

It's likely either your CPU or GPU that is overheating, and it takes an hour before it gets too hot. Monitor your temps.

At what temperature would you say a GPU over heats at?

90C or higher. What are your temps? The CPU will throttle much sooner. It's also possible the PSU is overheating too.

I got about 50C when i was gaming with no problems and then 57C when frames started dropping

I believe it was just a faulty GPU. I returned it and got the exact same one and it worked fine.
