I have an ASUS Z-170-A with a i7-6700, new build, it worked fine for a day then this morning then everything freezes a few minutes after booting up. I have 16GB Corsair DDR4 3200MHz memory that I've overclocked to 3.3k, a EVGA GTX 1060 6GB.
* I've tried with both integrated graphics and the GPU, it still had the same problems.
* I've done a diskcheck on my Samsung 850 EVO SSD but didn't find any problems.
* I've reinstalled my operating system 3 times yesterday (ubuntu 16.04) because it kept getting stuck when I tried to download Nvidia drivers because I had safe boot turned on. Even with that my system still had unknown problems detected, but the computer was still useable
* I've tried running Linux on an USB drive and it still had the same problems.
*I've tested my RAM and didn't find any problems. I've also switched DIMM slots, used only 1 stick and it still had the same problems.
* When I first had this problem, even the UEFI BIOS was frozen. Now, if I'm lucky I can go through the login screen.
I don't think I could've seated the CPU badly because I had the computer running for a good 4-5 hours straight, the temperature is at a good 25C and I've used the tool that came with the motherboard to properly install the CPU.
