Need help upgrading my graphics card

Hello,

I am not an extremely tech savy person but I am looking to upgrade my graphics card. I currently have GTX 750 it and I'm looking to go to a GTX 1060. Looking at the specs of each, I should notice a difference, correct? Anyway, I want to make sure my current hardware can handle the upgrade. GeForce suggests a minimum system power requirement of 400 w. I checked my PSU and it is 400 w. Will I be okay going with the minimum? Also, it says I need 6 pin supplementary power connectors. I am not entirely sure what that means so if you could explain, that would be great. Is there anything else I should consider?

I am not sure what specs to provide so I will give you what I know.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
Processor: AMD FX - 6300 Six Core
GPU: GTX 750 ti

The one on the left is a 6 pin power connector , the one on the right is a 6+2 (or 8 pin) connector.

If your PSU doesn't have at least a 6 pin spare I would be looking at replacing it to run a 1060.

There are no decent 400w PSU models around as far as I'm aware, you could post exact model number or upload a photo of the PSU label to confirm.

I've been doing this a while. You're welcome to PM me if you wanna ask me any specific questions. For a 1060 you will notice inprovement absolutely over a 750 ti. You're going from well, an old graphics card, to just shy of the best GPU on the market. Aslo, what is your budget? What is your entire system specs? Are you using closed-loop liquid cooling or just air based? What is the brand and efficiency of your PSU? Are you getting a Hybrid 1060 or just an air cooled card? I'd be happy to assist

I would seriously consider replacing the PSU mate , its incredibly poor quality.
While it spec wise will power a 1060 I ultimately wouldn't trust it with a new $200+ GPU personally.

What's your available upgrade budget & country??

For a budget, not looking to go over $200 USD. I found a Cyber Monday deal for the 1060 for about $200. Entire system specs? If you name things I can look up what I have because I don't know what else to say. I am using only air based cooling so will that be a problem? If so, I don't really have the money to invest in a new cooling system. I just provided a link to the label of PSU in the post above, take a look at that. This is exactly what I am buying which is air cooled - ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 3GB Dual-Fan OC Edition Graphics Card (DUAL-GTX1060-O3G).

Well, I can't say for others for sure, but I've gone a bit over the top for the passion I have in building. I took out a $5000 loan to build my computer initially and regularly get small loans to be able to upgrade components. I've sacrificed an insane amount for my computer all the while people in my world were trying steal and sabatoge and sell my rig while it was being built but I persevered. I've sold a lot of what I own just to come up with extra money and I do a lot of do what it takes to get the money for the need and figure out the planning after. It isn't for everyone, but it is for me. As far as PSUs go, I would look to Corsair's AX series PSUs and plan for something like 800 watts at least especially with the 1060.

I don't have that kind of money at this time to upgrade both the GPU and PSU. Can I stick with the PSU that I have? If not, can you recommend a cheaper one that doesn't sacrifice quality? Do I have to worry at all with the cooling that I have? Also, will my CPU bottleneck the 1060?

$220 before rebate , $180 after.
The 470 will not disappoint at all & its a better option than risking a 1060 on that psu imo mate at the end of the day.
