Firmware won't update

Recently had a charter technician replace my "bad" modem with this new one.

Things are still pretty much [censored] but realized he didn't update the firmware..... Now every time i try and update it says invalid when i check for updates in the routerlogin and when i try and upload it as a file...... any suggestions?

My router model is R6300v2

I would ask why are you trying top update the firmware of the ISP provided router ? Firmware updates are usually issued for specific reasons, jumping the gun as soon as an update is available for a firmware is not a good idea, nor does it resolve anything your expecting at times.

now that said, some ISP have been known to run modified Firmware's on their units, and it is possible that when trying to update with a standard version it has a " do not recognize this firmware your trying to apply as a valid update for my hardware and blocks it from happening.

also your router is a R6300v2 you did not mention what firmware it comes with right now , nor did you mention where your trying to get the firmware upgrade from (web link ?)
