So Asus live chat assistant Emma was useless she didn't have a clue about the technical side of things from the chat and just fobbed me off with the same text twice saying Asus do not have such data on how much wattage roughly their ROG GeForce Gtx 1060 6GB OC graphics card draws in the 3 pre-set modes in their app Tweak 2 of silent, gaming and oc mode.
I found this annoying and ridiculous they didnt have data like that on their own product or one they tweaked and sold.

Yet in the tweak 2 app it show in silent mode on the graphs a gpu voltage mV chart 625 min 625 max and in oc mode 625 min 781 max.
Plus i have noticed the card fans dont come on which is a good sign its not under serious load or heat but my Be quiet! Dark power pro 11 650watt psu's fan come on straight away when i power my pc on and stays on which could mean its hot and or pushing its limits right?

could someone do a conversion on how many watts min and max my card is ment to be using, she'd some light on why my psu fan is on constantly and any advice on possible bench marks or software that can show me how many watts my card and or pc is using?

Thank you

Also an option my dark power pro 11 650w is it comes with a physical overclocking key which says in the manual: Overclocking key. The overclocking key groups the individual 12v - rails to a single 12v-rail. You can enable the overclocking function by pressing the switch on the slot cover provided as needed.
The overclocking key is connected to the power supply using the connector. when you switch on the overclocking connector the function at the slot, a led lights on the slot cover switch.

Only press the overclocking key when power supply is switched off! It also has a jumper and i head some where that can be used for continuous oc mode.

Solution
a 650W dark power pro can easily handle any CPU/1060 combination you're throwing at it.

the "OC" button on the PSU is for when a part would need more power than is provided on a single 12V rail (2x 20, 2x 25A in case of your PSU)

the ASUS card is rated for 120W (=10A) in default settings
I doubt it will push over 150W (=12,5A), but even when drawing 200W(=16,6A) it shouldn't be a problem

depending on your CPU you whole system load will be well between 250-400W tops
which shouldn't be a problem for your PSU

you can always try disconnecting the GPU from the PSU and use the iGPU and test if the PSU behaves the same.

Thanks that is much more informative than Asus live chat was.
The card cranks to over 1800mhz in oc mode and you believe 200watts max in this? That's good to know.

I'm glad you have faith in my psu.
Its strange the psu fan is constantly on though.
I did disconnected the 1060, powered my pc on and still got the same thing so I don't get that that's the next concern.

Hi guys update. I left my pc off since my last reply so that a good few hours to cool down if it needed to, with the graphics card removed. Fired it up and the psu fan still comes on constantly however...I also got another great reply from Sönke Ruscheck @ Be quiet! HQ and he has told me and i quote 'all of our PSUs have all time spinning fans.
The fans will just stand still it you switch it off.' So thats another one put to bed and helpful for the next enthusiast who has the same questions.

The overclocking key that the Be quiet! Dark power pro 11 comes with isnt for overclocking the cpu or graphics cards as most of us would think so dont use it for this application 'no, the OC-Key has nothing to do with the CPU overclocking.
Your PSU provides the full power on the PCIe and the P4/P8 cable.

But if you like to connect 20 HDDs every HDD needs something about 3W.
But in the moment the HDD starts it needs about up to 30W for just 0,2 sec. .

In this case you need the overclocking key to provide the full power also on the other cables.
If you don’t do this the starting power about 600W will crash your system and it will not start.'
'And just for a case you need to install more than 8 HDDs'

1060 will be reinstalled, energy meter plug will be ordered to monitor for fututre uipgrde to be on the safe side and gaming will continue.
