If your changing platforms (i.e. to Intel) you will need a new Intel based Mobo. It appears your current Mobo might be around a mATX sized (micro ATX Mobo specs are 9.6"x9.6" or 244mm x 244mm, mATX spec found here). See image below for reference:

Can you measure your Mobo size, so we can verify it for sure, before we recommend a Mobo replacement?

Also what is your budget for this upgrade?

You might need to upgrade more than the CPU. You may need to upgrade the Case/PSU/RAM/etc., so knowing your budget for an upgrade will help out a lot.

you seem to have a micro ATX sized motherboard in your computer. That is the surface answer.

This is an off the shelf computer - as such it is barely sufficient to satisfy it's design needs - and likely not capable of managing much more. Companies like this generally put in the quality components (CPU) where they have to and cut corners where they can(PSU, MB, cooling, fans, etc.)

If you are looking to change the MB - you will want to upgrade the CPU, likely need to upgrade the memory and probably will require a new PSU and likely a new video card. Notice all the bits and pieces. Although you want to re-use the old machine - you will be better off building a new one - though you can likely reuse the storage, from your previous machine.

This is one of those things that can cascade beyond your expectations - you will be best to save your money until you have what is needed for a new case (Mid or full tower), new PSU - around 500-600W. new MB and CPU of your choice and likely a new SSD and video card.

If you choose to go down the path of a new micro-ATX and CPU to put in your current machine - that is your choice. However you will likely spiral a bit out of control in short order until you purchase the other components needed to support it.

This way you won't have any Case/PSU issues going forward. If you want to fit in a dGPU into the $500, I can put the parts together, if you like.

thank you so much, but the motherboard seems to be a micro atx when the case is ATX will that still work?

Yes it will. With an ATX based case, you will be able to fit mATX & even mITX too. You will have extra space, but it will work. We can put in an ATX Mobo, which will give you more expansion capabilities, but they usually are about $5-20 more.
