  1. The parts have not been bought yet, right? What us your budget? We could help get a better bang for the buck and upgradability in mind PC.

To answer your question,The 1060 is better than the 970
  2. Well, I would go with the 1060, as it offers to more gigs of VRAM, and with the latest Pascal chip. Now, some may say the 970 out performs the 1060, but if you are only playing on 1080p and waiting 60 FPS, the it will be fine.

no one says the 970 is faster than the 1060

and if they do, you need to ignore their advice

I've seen it said before, just bringing it up. Of course, I know that though. If I am not mistaken, the 1060 should be on par with the 980.
  5. pretty simple choice really get the 1060
  6. Motherboard is a Gigabyte 990X Gaming SLI
    Processor is AMD FX8350 4GHZ

This setup in near 2017? Waste of money.

Well its all I can afford for a christmas present for her so my bad I can't afford to spend big bucks on a gaming computer for my 13 year old daughter.

All you need to do is research really, that's key. I'm not talking about spending more, you just have to spend it more wisely. How much does an i5-6500 along with a B150 motherboard cost in your area? Presumably cheaper yet way more powerful and more efficient too.

AMD FX-8350's along with 990FX motherboards are power hungry setups based purely for enthusiasts, not to be used by your 13 year old kids imo. At the same time, they're 2012 tech and fully outdated today.

The I5 would have been another £80 -£90 more don't know on the motherboard but ram would have been more also.
I totally understand where you are coming from but I needed to be strict on budget so had to compromise and she will be able to play her games at a reasonable FPS rate which she hasn't been able to on a laptop I think she will be happy with it no mater what.
Thanks for your input and have to agree Research is key.
  11. everything is easier with hindsight

and not every one can spend what would make ideal components

so dont beat yourself up over it

and yes she should be happy
