The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 offers a Xeon processor that is actually pretty nice. I am looking for a lab-in-a-box type solution, so the Xeon + Quadro + 64 GB RAM is really appealing. The one question I have is the ECC memory option. They offer it, but it is $470 more than the non-ECC SoDIMM option. Since I won't be using this for any type of production VM builds (and I can always move it to my servers or to the cloud), is there any possible universe in which I would want the ECC RAM over the SoDIMM?
