My cpu is intel i5 4460, mobo is gigabyte b85-hd3-a which supports only up to 16gb ddr3.
I have 1 stick "Cruical ballistix sport 8gb ddr3 1600mhz" installed, and i found in an old pc "Patriot Viper 2x2gb ddr3 1600mhz" i was wondering if it will work. what do you say guys? maybe I can install only 1 of them? and what are the chances it will put my pc at risk if i do so.

As long as you have it, give it a try, won't hurt anything and if the play might get a slight performance increas, as is the 8GB stick is running in single channel mode, adding a two will effectively give you 4GB is dual channel mode and the odd 6GB in single channel :)

thanks for the comment :)
So I tried adding the 2x2gb to my 1x8gb but my pc kept on rebooting itself when i turned it on. So I removed 1 stick to check if it will work and it works. so right now i have 10gb instead of potential 12. any suggestions? it might be related to the fact my 1x8gb is 1.5v and the two other are 1.9v?
